Billy Crawford is sorry that he missed the ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Results Night

As much as Billy Crawford wanted to be at the Pilipinas Got Talent Results Night, he had no choice but to attend his scheduled concert in Hong Kong last June 14. “Actually the performance night and results night were supposed to be set in another date, June 5 and 6 ata. Pero naurong because of the success of the auditions so nataon na umabot ng June 14 yung grand finals which fell on the same date ng show ko sa Hong Kong na matagal na ring naplano. Hindi na ako makapag-back out kasi if you have a commitment kailangan mo din gawin ‘di ba? At nung nandun ako sa Hong Kong at nagpe-perform para sa mga kababayan natin dun, ibang klase talaga ang reception nila,” he explained in an interview with ABS-CBN reporters last June 15.

But to be absent during PGT’s culminating event after working hard on the show the past six months proved to really difficult for Billy. “Sobra akong nanghihinayang. Kahit tanungin ni’yo si Luis (Manzano), tawag ako ng tawag sa kanya pati kay Ms. Alou (Almaden, Business Unit Head of PGT) para updated din ako kung anong nangyayari at kumustahin si Iya (Villania) who co-hosted the show for the last night. Kasi as I said, yung parang mawala ka ng isang araw sa pamilya mo parang ang lungkot din. Sa YouTube ko na lang napanood the next day yung mga na-miss ko,” he related.

Nevertheless, Billy was very happy with the results since powerful belter Jovit Baldivino was one of his personal bets, including the Velasco Brothers (breakdancers) and Allan “Alakim” De Paz (magician). “You know what, nung performance night pa lang, nung nagkagulo talaga yung Araneta, it was kind of expected kung anong mangyayari the next night. Pero you never know kasi madami ding supporters yung ibang performers. I was actually surprised with the rest of the rankings, but for me, sinabi ko naman sa lahat na malamang si Jovit ang mananalo.”

As an international performer, Billy took pride in the fact that the performances of the contenders were all world class. “Kapag nakikita mo yung isang pinoy act tulad nung sa Velasco Brothers—yung pinagsama yung Cirque de Soleil-type of performance at saka breakdancing—ibang klase yun ‘di ba? And you have someone who used to sell siomai na ang liit-liit na tao, hanggang dibdib ko lang si Jovit e, pero yung boses niya tignan mo naman kung gaano kalaki at kung paano niya naka-capture yung audience through his voice. And we also have Alakim na magaling din talaga. Kaya I am really happy to be part of PGT kasi talagang nabibigyan ng opportunity ang mga pinoy na ipakita ang talento natin sa buong mundo,” he beamed.
