Zanjoe Marudo speaks up about his break-up with Mariel Rodriguez

Zanjoe Marudo aired his side on ex-girlfriend Mariel Rodriguez’s recent admission that they are no longer a couple. Mariel finally shed light on the controversy when she broke her silence on the May 29 episode of

Entertainment Live. She shared that Zanjoe’s priority right now is his family, so their relationship needed to
be set aside. However, Mariel clarified that they are still good friends and that they continue to communicate with each other. As a matter of fact, the Wowowee host even attended Zanjoe’s golf tournament, Z Cup, yesterday.

In an interview with The Buzz, Zanjoe also supported Mariel’s claim that they continue to communicate and the actor even insinuated that there is still a chance of patching things up. “Wala naman kaming… ako, wala naman akong planong talagang mawala kami o ‘yung mapunta ako sa iba (at) mapunta siya sa iba,” Zanjoe said.

Zanjoe explained that he prefers to keep things about the split between him and Mariel as much as possible to avoid the matter getting out of hand. “Kasi kapag once na marami pa tayong kinuwento, marami pa tayong ipinaliwanag, mas hahaba pa nang hahaba,” he said. “Heto nga’t pinipilit naming sa amin na lang ito tsaka, ayusin, sa amin na lang. May mga nadadamay kasi at naiiba-iba na ‘yung ispekulasyon ng tao.”

Mariel already clarified that there are no third parties involved in their split. She also denied the speculations that Robin Padilla, who became a guest co-host for Wowowee, is supposedly courting her. Mariel stated too that there is no truth to Zanjoe dating actress Cristine Reyes, with whom he is working on a project with
