Dawn Zulueta is on the cover of Working Mom magazine’s Mother’s Day special

Actress Dawn Zulueta appears as beautiful as ever on the cover of the Mother’s Day offering of Working Mom magazine. Once can hardly believe that she’s now the mother of two: four-year-old son Jacobo and nine-month-old daughter Ayisha. In an exclusive interview with Working Mom, she revealed the real-life challenges of playing the toughest role in the world, that of being a mother.

For starters, Dawn and her husband, Davao del Norte Congressman Anton Lagdameo, had to wait seven years before being blessed with their first child, Jacobo. Then when she was pregnant with Ayisha, she had to endure serious pain. “I had a complicated pregnancy. I had to keep injecting myself with insulin because I had gestational diabetes. I had six injections a day.” Dawn gave birth to Ayisha through caesarian section.

Although she already had mommy experience with Jacobo, Dawn admitted that after Ayisha was born, she realized that the job only gets tougher one child after another. “I’m just more tired. It’s not like they have the same schedule. Also, I have to make sure I attend to both of them.”

Dawn may have prioritized her family duties, but that’s not to say she has completely turned her back on showbiz. In fact, she has just finished as digital film directed by good friend and award-winning filmmaker Joel Lamangan to be released as part of the upcoming Cinemalaya Film Festival. With the shooting for the film, pictorials for different magazines, and campaign sorties for her husband, Dawn makes it a point that she never neglects home. “I want to be home to prepare dinner, watch the evening news, and play with the kids. Right after dinner, I take a bath and I’m in bed by 9.”
