Sam Concepcion grows up in the upcoming film ‘Cinco’

Sam Concepcion is excited about being chosen to star in one of the episodes of the new Star Cinema horror movie, Cinco. In the episode called Braso, he and fellow Gigger Boys Robi Domingo and AJ Perez will play newbie members of a fraternity. Sam told ABS-CBN.com that he is happy to be doing this film with his buds from the ASAP dance group. “It’s great. Never ko pa silang nakasama sa isang movie. Lagi kaming sumasayaw together. We did (Your Song presents) Boystown, pero ito ‘yung first movie namin together. Another fun experience for us.”

Sam considers Cinco as his very first major film, that’s why he is very thankful to Star Cinema for choosing him to be a part of this project. “We’re very happy that the management entrusted us with a movie. Ibig sabihin alam nilang kaya namin. At the same time nandun ‘yung kaba, pressure to deliver especially horror ito.”

The 17-year-old actor-singer said he is also looking forward to doing an offbeat portrayal in Cinco. “Sa Boystown kasi ‘yung mga character namin medyo pattern muna sa mga totoong personalities namin. Pero dito sa Cinco we will actually portray characters na hindi kami. It’s going out of our comfort zones.”

During the story conference for the film, it was revealed to Sam, AJ, and Robi that they will be required to strip down to their underwear. Sam admitted that he has mixed emotions about doing the said scene, but in the end, he placed his trust in director Frasco Mortiz (of Goin’ Bulilit and Banana Split). “I’m here to find out kung kaya ko nga. Right now siyempre parang iniisip mo pa lang kaya wala lang. But kapag gagawin na ‘yung eksena, let’s see kung kaya ko. Tingin ko naman kaya ko. I trust Direk Frasco. We grow as artists din kasi. I will do it not as Sam but as an actor portraying a role.”

Cinco also stars Pokwang, Mariel Rodriguez, and Jayson Gainza, and will hit theaters this July.
