Kapamilya stars ruled in the first ever awards “for teens by teens” dubbed as Pure ‘N Fresh Top Teen Awards, held at the A-Venue Hall last May 27 and hosted by MYX VJs Luis Manzano, Nikki Gil, Robi Domingo, Chino Lui-Pio, and Bianca Roque. Teens from all over the country voted for their celebrity idols in movies, music, and TV and some of those who were short-listed included Gerald Anderson, Robi, Enchong Dee, and Chris Tiu for the Top Teen Male Heartthrobs. Their female counterparts or the Top Teen “It” Girls were Kim Chiu, Nikki, Iya Villania, and Maxene Magalona. There was also a category for top entertainers which compromised of Christian Bautista, Billy Crawford, Sam Concepcion, Rico Blanco, Rachelle Ann Go, Yeng Constantino, Nikki (giving her two nominations), and Kyla.
Kim and Robi got the most votes in their respective categories and were hailed as the ultimate teen icons that night. Sam was chosen as the best male entertainer while Kyla got hold of the female entertainer award. Nikki, who was one of the hosts, even made the audience laugh as she came out wearing a gown, saying in jest that she was supposed to bring home a trophy as well. Adding more fun and entertainment in the event was the surprise number of the Giggerboys coupled with the cool band performances by Sponge Cola (Top Teen Music Video Awardee for their single “Puso”), Chicosci (Top Teen Band), and all-time favorite Bamboo.
