Diether Ocampo shares his secrets to an enduring career

Diether Ocampo believes that one needs to keep up with change to remain relevant. Diet shared that he has lasted 16 years in showbiz because he continues to reinvent himself. “I think it’s part of the job, eh. Of course the entertainment industry nage-evolve din ‘yan so kailangan you have to move with the change.”

The actor credits his enduring career to his love for the industry, which he said has been kind to him. “I have learned to enjoy and appreciate everything about the industry so I feel like parang naging very generous sa akin ang industriya. That’s why I always make it a point to give back to the industry.” The actor is an active philanthropist and is one of the main founders of KIDS Foundation that helps impoverished kids go to school.

He also added that being humble in spite of your success is important to stay long in the business. “You have to be grounded. If you’re doing the right thing, I don’t think mawawala ka,” he said.

As for competing with other leading men, Diether said that this is naturally part of the business and in order to excel, “You have to learn your market,” he advised. “For me kasi it’s very important na aware ka kung anong kaya mong ibigay, kung anong kaya mong i-explore it’s a never-ending process of learning.”

Among his contemporaries, Diet named Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, and Dingdong Dantes as the leading actors today whom he thinks have established themselves in the industry after many years of hard work.
