Sarah Geronimo’s mom Divine is known for being overprotective, especially when it comes to dealing with her daughter’s suitors. But contrary to reports about how strict Mommy Divine allegedly is, Luis Manzano said that he has a good rapport with her and the rest of Sarah’s family. “Well, ako hindi ko pa nakikita yung masungit na side ni Tita Divine. Sa akin kasi, nakakakulitan ko talaga and nakakabiruan ko si Mommy Divine. Ayoko naman sabihin na close kami, pero kumbaga nakukulit ko siya and hindi ko naman nakikita yung sungit factor na sinasabi na meron siya,” he said to ABS-CBN.com last May 13.
Given his outgoing personality, perhaps it’s inevitable that the actor-host would be friends with just about anyone on ASAP XV where he often sees Sarah and her mom. “Siguro kasi kami ni Sarah, isa sa mga ginagawa ko sa ASAP ay kulitin silang mag-ina. Ang tawag nga sa akin sa ASAP ng Kanto Boys e tanod. Kasi never ako napapakali sa sarili kong dressing room.” There was even an instance when Mommy Divine brought him a delicious packed lunch at his standby area. “Napakabait sa akin ni Mommy Divine. Napagluto pa nga niya ako ng pusit in olive oil and garlic and palagi ko nire-request sa kanya yun.”
When asked if he would like to court Sarah in the future, Luis said that he’s not closing his doors to that possibility. “Ayokong magsalita ng tapos or kung ano man, but at least kami ni Sarah ngayon, we have a very, very good foundation which is an unbelievable friendship. At this point, happy na ako na ganon kami.” The two have worked closely together in the movie Hating-kapatid and Sarah had been very vocal about how much she enjoys being around Luis. “Iba kasi kami ni Sarah. Minsan hindi kami nakakakumpleto ng eksena sa kakatawa namin. And ako napakakumportable ko sa kanya. Hopefully naman kahit papa’no kumportable din siya sa akin. Palagi kaming masaya ’pag magkasama kami sa set.”
With their growing closeness, some people are wondering if he might replace Rayver Cruz in Sarah’s heart. To which Luis merely said, “Wow. Ayoko magsalita ng ganon. No, I’m very happy na napapasaya ko si Sarah dahil ang sarap niyang pasayahin dahil yung tawa niya napaka-infectious at alam mong ‘pag tumawa si Sarah e totoo. So I’m very, very happy kung talagang napapatawa ko or napapasaya ko si Sarah.” Does he consider it an advantage that he’s already close to her family as compared to other guys who can’t even go near Sarah? “Siguro that's for them to answer. Pero kumbaga ako, I’m happy kung paano ang pakikitungo sa akin ni Mommy Divine tsaka ni Tito (Delfin) napakabait nila sa akin, so okay yung relationship naming lahat.”
