Is there a rivalry between Robi Domingo and the rest of the Gigger boys?

obi Domingo may be a relative showbiz newcomer among the Gigger boys, but he still managed to get the role that pits him against Enchong Dee in Your Song Presents Boystown. With him bagging one of the major roles, people have begun to wonder if fellow Gigger boys AJ Perez, Sam Concepcion, Dino Imperial, Arron Villaflor, and Chris Gutierrez felt jealous of the ex-Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus housemate. But Robi was quick to refute such rumors, insisting that the Gigger boys are too close for that to happen. “Tingin ko naman walang bida dito eh. Lahat kami may opportunity to [shine in the spotlight], may kanya-kanyang plots yung characters namin. Just like what I said in the previous interviews I had with ABS-CBN.com, makita ko lang sarili ko sa TV achievement na talaga. Wala sa isip ko kung mai-compare man kami with each other. And kung makikita mo kami off cam, walang nagkakagalit sa amin. Every taping pagod kami hindi lang dahil sa work kung ‘di dahil sobrang kulit namin sa set. All we do is talk, laugh, and make music videos out of nothing. We have such a well-bonded cast,” he explained.

Robi has proven that he can take on new challenges in his career as he plays a rich snob who rebels against his controlling father. “Dito makikita niyo si Robi na galit sa mundo at sobrang yabang lalo na kapag nakabangga ang mga taga-Boystown. Kahit na very different siya with my personality I can say na mas na-inspire because of it. I remember nung My Girl pa lang, unang tapat ng camera sa akin noon naka-six takes ako. But because of the workshops I’ve taken medyo nahasa na [ako]. Lalo na sa MYX (where he is a VJ) na tutok ka ng camera na walang ibang kabatuhan [ng linya], you’re used to spontaneity. Medyo na-develop naman yung skill na, ‘Uy I can do this. Hindi na ako mahihiya,” he shared.

Despite his newfound confidence as an actor, Robi has kept both his feet on the ground and even thanks his co-stars for being supportive of his showbiz career. The 19-year-old heartthrob also stressed that he has a long way to go before he can say he has truly made it in showbiz. “Bago ako mag-stand out siyempre kailangan ko munang sabayan sila. Yun muna ang kailangan ko gawin. Kasi I already faced the fact na sila more than two years na [sa showbiz]. Ako wala pang one year sa pag-arte and all this singing and dancing stuff. Then after I show everyone na kaya ko ring makipagsabayan sa kanila, dun na ako kukuha ng leverage. Siguro ang pinaka-leverage ko sa kanila ngayon is that bago ako and this is what I can do.”

Get to know Robi Domingo as Arkin in Your Song Presents Boystown every Sunday right after ASAP ’09.
