Luis Manzano says his father is still a better game show host than himself

ABS-CBN.com spoke with Luis Manzano following his contract signing with ABS-CBN, and he shared what projects can be expected from his in the coming months. “Patuloy pa rin ako as host ng ASAP XV, E-Live, and Pilipinas Got Talent. May inihahanda rin medyo mabigat na teleserye for me at isang bagong game show. Nung na-present sa akin sobrang akong natuwa na pati ako napapasagot ako sa mga questions. Hopefully abangan niyo kasi malapit na.

Luis’s tandem with Billy Crawford in PGT also apparently earned a huge following which is why ABS-CBN created a follow up project for them which will be a new game show. This will be the first time that Luis will be hosting a game show, that’s why as early as now many are expecting that he will be as good as his father Edu Manzano who created a whole pop cultural phenomenon when he hosted Pilipinas Game K N B? However, Luis believes his dad is still the better game show host. “Napakahirap na manahin ang trono ni daddy kasi iba ang atake niya sa pag-host ng game show. Hindi pa talaga kasi ako nakapag-host ng game show. Reality show, talent show nagawa ko na. So this new game show will be a very different for me. In terms of being a game show host I will say na napakalayo ko pa para maikumpara ako sa dad ko.”

Aside from this game show, Luis is also slated to star in a teleserye that will again challenge his skills as a drama actor. “I would admit na I still have a long way to go at madami pa akong kailangan matutunan. I hope I am more equipped now para gawin itong mabigat na teleserye for me. It’s a more mature role and mas malaki ‘yung emotional demand,” he related.

When asked if he has a personal choice of leading lady in this teleserye, Luis said he would rather leave the decision to the management. “There are so many talented leading ladies here in ABS-CBN kaya ang hirap pumili. Hindi naman sa pagmamayabang but I’ve worked with Toni (Gonzaga), Anne (Curtis), kaya iba na ‘yung comfort level ko sa kanila. Working with them again will be a pleasure for me. Kung sino na lang ‘yung magustuhan ng management, kung sa tingin nila may chemistry kami.”

But if he would have it his way, Luis would prefer not to do a teleserye with his ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin because according to him, he is not comfortable being paired as a “love team” with his old flame. “Kami naman ni Angel nasabi na namin dati na working together, hindi naman impossible, pero sana sa episodic na lang or sa movie. Kung ila-love team pa kasi kami baka mapakialamanan pa ‘yung sa amin.”
